Northwest AEA will host a virtual Standard Response Protocol training by John-Michael Keyes, founder of the I Love U Guys Foundation, on Dec. 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. John-Michael is a phenomenal presenter and this information is very critical in our schools. Numerous states across the country have adopted this method of crisis response across all schools and community entities.

The I Love U Guys Foundation was started in 2006 by John-Michael and Ellen Keyes following a school shooting that took the life of their daughter, Emily. Emily texted “I Love U Guys” during the ordeal, setting a tone that has become the mission and ethos of the Foundation: Kindness, Community, and Responsibility. Today, the Foundation is led by survivors, family members, first responders and community members with a vested interest in safety, preparedness, and reunification in schools.

Optimal planning and discussion will occur when school staff and community first responders attend this workshop together. Standard Response Protocol and Standard Reunification Method both rely on the understanding that in a crisis event:

• law enforcement owns the crime;
• fire department owns the fire;
• EMS owns the patient; and
• school staff owns the students.

School safety/crisis team members, administrators, and first responders are encouraged to attend. Please see the attached flyer for registration and additional information.
