Updates on the state-wide registration system concerning requirements and refund policy.

Credit Options

Courses are approved for licensure renewal credit and some will be approved for graduate credit through Morningside College, Drake University and Briar Cliff University. To receive any credit, licensure renewal or graduate, you must be in attendance in class for 15 hours and complete all required work! Please note: All credit types require some type of work completion. Our offerings are designed to provide learning experiences. Learning experiences are successful when participants have an opportunity to practice new skills and receive feedback; therefore, all credited opportunities must include this component.  For that same reason no credit is given for attendance at conferences and workshops as this component is typically missing and actual attendance cannot be verified.

If credit is being offered for an activity, the requirements are the same whether the participant is taking the class for license renewal credit or graduate credit. A passing grade for license renewal credit is the equivalent of an 'A' or 'B' letter grade in a graduate course.

Once the class is finished, credit type becomes permanent. You cannot request a change in credit type nor will any refunds be given. In unusual circumstances, which result in a participant being unable to finish a class, ie. illness, death in the family, a refund will be issued.  This is at the discretion of the Professional Development Coordinator.

  • Based on registration information, all professional learning opportunities will be evaluated one week prior to the first day of the course/event to determine viability.
  • Each AEA will determine locally if/when registration will close in the system for the professional learning opportunity.
  • If a participant wants to register but missed the registration deadline, registration may be an option based on approval by NWAEA professional learning office.

Important Note: Please be aware of your district's policy of earning licensure renewal or graduate credit during the work day. Some districts do not allow this.
