If you have a master's degree, at least four years of successful teaching experience and the desire to become a school principal, the Iowa Principal Leadership Academy may be the program for you. Cohort 10 begins in January 2011.

By preparing principals with a practical approach, the non-traditional program features problem-based learning matched to Iowa Standards, relevant experiences, best practices, supportive faculty mentors, collaborative cohorts and flexible scheduling.

The commitment includes one Saturday class per month for 24 months to be held in Storm Lake through the use of technology (including Sioux City, Storm Lake or Cherokee TBD by participants) and occasional meetings with cohorts. The entire program costs $6,600 with credit available.

The program requirement includes completing six problem-based learning experiences following Iowa's Six Leadership Standards—it is not a traditional three-hour class format.
