TLC Full Implementation

First of all, welcome to the 2016-17 school year! I’m always excited at the beginning of the school year for the start of new opportunities with students. I’ve always said we get a “second new year” because we get to start new each fall with our students.

The big news at Northwest AEA is that the Teacher Leadership and Compensation (TLC) program in now fully implemented. This is a nationally recognized effort for teacher leadership and aims to improve instruction in the classroom. Northwest AEA is welcoming 28 districts to this new program.

The TLC program promotes collaboration between teacher leaders and administrators in schools—and in school districts—statewide. The program is designed for all these educators to learn from each other to improve student achievement by strengthening instruction and instructional leadership. The goal is to engage educators in collegial conversations that focus on impacting instruction in the classroom. 

Here at Northwest AEA, we have many professional development opportunities for educators involved in TLC. The Northwest AEA professional development plan is designed to help all of these educators navigate the new opportunities in TLC. The professional development offerings are organized by topic and identify the TLC framework. You may review these and match the professional development offerings with your district and building goals. The link to the professional development is here.
