On October 12 we held our first Early Childhood In-service this school year with over 120 participants. Positive Behavior Supports specific to Early Childhood was introduced. The Iowa PBS initiative involves the adoption of new approaches for facilitating the development of children’s social competence and addressing challenging behavior. This framework involves four levels of practices that represent prevention, promotion, and intervention. Participants that attended the in-service moved through five stations which included various PBS strategies and techniques. Everyone was provided materials to take with them to implement back in their classrooms. The day was completed with the link to curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
Evening sessions from 6-9 pm will also be offered which begin on October 26 in Sioux City, and October 28 in Sioux Center. The next in-service day is November 9 at NWAEA in Sioux City.
