High quality early childhood programs focus on several components, including curriculum development, relationship-building with families and in the classroom, and professional development. Teachers who receive consistent, on-going training tend to have programs in which children more consistently thrive and, thus, are more “school-ready."

Northwest AEA Early Childhood professional development activities for the 2010-2011 school year are well under way with several options for early childhood staff and administration:
- Administrator P.D. Course: “Administrator’s View on Early Childhood: Building Learning Communities” (meets 5 times during year)

- Early Childhood Staff P.D.: “Intentional Teacher: Focus on Content Areas” (begins on October 11 with follow-up on March 14/17 and April 11/14)

- Other Professional Development can be viewed online at Northwest AEA website Professional Development area (registration for classes goes through Northwest AEA PD).
