This is the beginning of year where you try new things in your classroom!  Change things up, tweak what you've been doing, get rid of things that didn't work.  Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, and Teachers Pay Teachers can be wonderful!  It can be a little overwhelming, too. So where do I start?  Realistically, you can't do everything.  What do you really want to improve?  What's not your strong suite?

Here's some ideas (the what, how, and why is up to you):

  • Classroom Behavior
  • ELA Iowa Core standards
  • Reading, Writing, Language Workshops
  • Vocabulary
  • Interventions
  • Classroom Library
  • Rubrics
  • Technology (Apps)

This year, I'm trying a new organizational system for my calendar/planning, I'm continuing to learn more about the ELA Iowa Core State Standards by reading articles, blogs, etc.  I'll be tweaking a writing rubric that we've been using and learning right along with the teachers I work with on writing instruction.  The beginning of the year just seems like a new beginning.

It doesn't matter what you try or tweak.  I hope as a teacher you want to try something new to help you and your students succeed.

What are you trying new this year?
