For the 2009-2010 school year, Iowa AEA Online’s World Book subscription has been upgraded to include World Book’s complete collection of online reference databases. Webinars providing an overview of the features of the World Book Web’s full suite of products are scheduled for November and December. For registration details download the schedule at:

The World Book Web is a suite of online research tools that includes encyclopedia articles, primary source collections, educator tools, student activities, pictures, audio, and video, complemented by current periodicals and related Web sites.

World Book Kids (Students in elementary school)
Simple navigation, easy-to-read articles, engaging activities, and thousands of illustrations are included as part of this classroom-tested site.

World Book Student (Students in middle/high school)
Tens of thousands of encyclopedia articles, more than 20,000 photos, illustrations, videos and maps, a biography center, and a collection of research tools are included in this comprehensive site.

World Book Advanced (Students in middle/high school and college)
Integration of primary and secondary source databases plus e-books is included in a single search.

World Book Discover (Support for middle/high school students with learning difficulties)
This collection, designed for students reading below grade level, includes thousands of reference articles, text-to-speech capabilities, learning and life skills activities, translation tool, multimedia, and interactive video.

Digital Libraries: Living Green, Early Peoples, and Inventions & Discoveries
Each digital library features in-depth articles, videos and animations, interactive activities, curriculum correlations, text-to-speech, translation tool printable worksheets, and links to encyclopedia content.
Early Peoples Digital Library examines the history of the world’s most influential ancient cultures. (Grades 3 – 8)
Inventions & Discoveries Digital Library explores the greatest inventions and discoveries in history.
Living Green Digital Library examines pollution’s causes and consequences, major ecosystems, and green issues in food production. (Grades 6 - 9)

L'Encyclopédie Découverte (French, all grades)
Thousands of encyclopedia articles, a visual dictionary, as well as bilingual features that allow users to toggle between English and French, and two interfaces that make content accessible to all levels.

Gran Enciclopedia Hispánica (Spanish, Grades 6 and up)
Nearly 100,000 articles, thousands of images, maps, videos and interactive media, and links to editor-approved Web sites.
