ELL students are required by law to be assessed annually in the area of academic proficiency. Iowa uses the I-ELDA as their assessment. Each school with ELL students will receive information as to ordering procedures. It is requested that the information and ordering guidelines be followed closely in order to assure that each school gets the materials it needs.

Training will be offered to school personnel who administer this assessment to increase the validity in scoring the writing and speaking sections of the assessment. The assessment has been updated since last year. The training will also include the updates. Training session dates are:

January 27, 2010, 1:00-3:30 p.m. at NWAEA, Sioux City, Room F

February 7, 2010, 1:00-3:30 p.m. at NCC, Sheldon, Building H, Room 510

Preregistration is required so that adequate handouts will be available to participants. Please register by calling (800-572-5073) or emailing Carla Roghair at croghair@nwaea.org
