We are pleased to inform you Northwest AEA and Prairie Lakes AEA are partnering to bring Nilda Aquirre back to our area. She will be presenting a workshop called "Identifying and Teaching Gifted English Learners" on April 7th and 8th, 2020 at King's Pointe in Storm Lake. For more information see the attached flyer.
Special Note: Please share the following information with those who plan to attend. The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and Title III guidelines require participants to reflect and implement new learning after attending professional development funded by Title III. All participants will be asked to complete the following.
1. Create an Identification Protocol or Instrumentation used to identify gifted ELs consisting of....
3 or more components
2 or more measures that are research based
1 or more best practices.
2. Create an action plan for serving EL Gifted...
A. list action steps
B. list who is responsible for each action
C. Timeline as to when the actions will take place
Some time will be given during the workshop to work on these activities.
