We are looking forward to supporting area teacher leaders and TLC programs again this year. To stay up-to-date on all NWAEA Teacher Leader offerings we invite you to subscribe to our weekly Teacher Leader Newsletter. Each newsletter provides resources and reminders of upcoming events.
Teacher Leader Network (TLN)
Our Opening day for the 2018-2019 TLN Season begins on September 18 in Denison (High School) and Sioux City (Northwest AEA). We would love to have your coaching team join us along with your Head Coach (administrator) for at least the morning session.
The first pitch starts at 8:30 due to a special guest in the 7th inning stretch. We will be joined by author Alisa Simeral. Her focus will be on the principal and coach partnership.
Our afternoon game begins at 1:00. This will be a time for teacher leaders/coaches to network, collaborate and learn of local and state resources.
We would love to add you to the roster. Please register here if you have not already done so.
Game times are 8:30 to 3:00 with an hour on your own or lunch. We have an earlier start time for this session due to the opportunity to have author Alisa Simeral join us virtually.
Please mark your calendars for the rest of our TLN Season!
All sessions will be on the same day this year. Our locations will be in Sioux City (NWAEA) and Denison (Administrative Meeting Room). Start times may vary as we continue to secure virtual guests!
Licensure Renewal credit will be available.
Coaching Cycle Cohort
A new addition to our Northwest AEA Teacher Leader support includes our Coaching Cycle Cohort. Instead of holding lab days, tied to Student Centered Coaching, we are making plans for a year-long course (some face-to-face and some virtual) to support you in your coaching cycles with teachers. The expectation is to attend all 4 sessions and implement coaching cycles in between sessions.
Attending the Student Centered Coaching days with Leanna Harris and Impact Cycle with Ann Hoffman dates are not requirements but encouraged.
All sessions (9:00 - 3:00) will be in Sioux City.
October 2 - Northwest AEA Room D
November 15 - Western Iowa Tech Community College (L416/417. Parking is in Lot 3 and use entrance 11.)
January 15 - Northwest AEA Room 111
March 8 - Northwest AEA Room B
Two renewal credits will be available.
Leaders with Lattes
If you are a curriculum director or in a similar teacher leader position, please mark Wed. Sept. 5 on your calendar. Monthly Curriculum Director Networking Meetings have been brought back to life at NWAEA and you don't want to miss out! We will meet each month for two hours to discuss topics of interest to you and your work. This will also be a great place for you to network with others in a similar position.
For registration information see flyer.
