I came across an article not to long ago that discussed how we will read textbooks in the future and what textbook companies are doing to move their books into the digital age. Yesterday Apple announced that it is going to change the way textbooks are read as well. So what IS the future of hardcover text books. Will they be relevant in the next 5 years? Is the change from hard cover textbooks to digital textbooks coming sooner than we think, or is farther off? I'll let you decide.

Here are a couple of links about articles related to this issue. The first link is an interview with one of the vice presidents of McGraw-Hill a company name known to many who use text books in classrooms. The second link is to Apple's announcement of the new push for digitizing textbooks. The third link was found on cnn.com and it talks about why the iPad will not transform education...yet.

So, how many years out are we from a digital textbook world? That's for you to decide.
