Having students create multimedia projects is beneficial to students in many ways. Multimedia projects enhance learning and creativity, and engage students. A challenge for a teacher can be making sure that the project increases learning and that tasks are rigorous. An article in Learning & Leading with Technology not only gives suggestions to prevent common pitfalls, but also offers a rubric that offers guidelines to help the project meet Common Core State Standards. If your students create multimedia projects, I highly recommend the article "Wrangle It with a Rubric, by Regina D. Royer and Jeffrey A. Royer, November, 2012, pp. 18 - 23.
