Hello Science Leadership Team Members,

Horizon Research recently released the 2018 National Survey of Science and Mathematics Education (NSSME). The 2018 NSSME surveyed a nationally representative sample of over 1,200 schools and 7,600 teachers of science, mathematics, and computer science.  Survey topics included teacher background and opinions, professional development participation, adequacy of resources, textbooks used, and instructional practices. The national press release, which includes some report highlights, is attached to this email.

I encourage you to share this report with your networks. In addition, I'd like to challenge each of you to read through this document and highlight information that will be important for the science leadership team to consider as we move forward in developing strategic plans for science education in Iowa. I'll plan on a discussion of this report as a component of our next science leadership team Zoom meeting.

Have a great day,

Kris
