Northwest AEA will host “Kick Off Your Year Learning Conference: EQ Before IQ” on Wednesday, Aug. 10 in Le Mars!


Northwest AEA will host its annual learning conference on Wednesday, Aug. 10 at the Le Mars Middle School. This year’s theme is “Kick Off Your Year Learning Conference 2022: EQ Before IQ.”

This conference is designed to support disciplines across PK-12 grade levels. Attendees will connect with peers and experts who share similar commitments and challenges.

This year’s conference theme supports educational professionals who seek professional learning in the following areas:

  • understanding and teaching the most challenging students;

  • teaching with trauma-informed practice, culturally responsive pedagogy, and equity/inclusion work; and

  • improving educator mental health through mindfulness, empowerment, and self care.

Special educator, author, and behavior analyst Jessica Minahan, M.Ed, BCBA, will be the keynote speaker. Featured speakers include Jackie Paulson, LMHC, who is an eagala certified facilitator and energy worker, and Louise El Yaafouri, who is an emergent multilingual and cultural competency consultant.
