Northwest AEA is an approved provider of licensure renewal courses as authorized by the Board of Educational Examiners. The purpose of this program is to provide high quality, timely, easily accessible and low cost course work as may be needed by area educators to maintain licensure in the state of Iowa. 

This program focuses on activities that (1) address specific student, teacher and school needs evidenced in local school improvement plans, or (2) assist teachers in improving student learning, or (3) assist teachers in improving teaching evidenced through the adoption or application of practices, strategies and information.

The Proposed Course Syllabus has been designed to assist instructors with the development of the content and expectations of courses to be offered either as open courses offered to educators within the AEA or as site-based activities provided within individual schools and districts. Licensure renewal credit is provided by Northwest AEA and graduate credit may be acquired through both Morningside College and Briar Cliff University.
