SIOUX CITY, IOWA (May 16, 2019)—Northwest AEA honored Marla Skadburg and Pablo Chapa for their efforts of going above and beyond to help area families and/or preschool children. The 35th Annual Friends of Preschool Award ceremony was held on May 15 in Sioux City.

Mr. Chapa was nominated by Staci Gallup, an early childhood special education consultant/teacher at Northwest AEA, for his generosity of transporting families via his taxi service at a discounted rate. Any family in Denison that does not have transportation to Early Head Start or Head Start can call Max Taxi, and they will receive a discounted rate from Mr. Chapa.

Marla Skadburg was nominated by Nancy Brommer, an early childhood special education consultant/teacher at Northwest AEA, for her dedication and integrity in preschool education. Ms. Skadburg has been the director at Angel House Childcare center in Sioux City since 1987. There are several stories about her humble dedication to working 10-hour days and on the weekends, and doing whatever it takes to assist the children and families who attend Angel House.

Thank you and congratulations to both of this year's honorees. These individuals make our communities stronger!
